The Mighty Creatives Sector Support Commissions

The Covid-19 emergency has required us to ask ‘what is a post-Covid-19 world going to look like?’ We are in a period of huge change and the current crisis is having a significant impact on the cultural sector and our regions’ children and young people.

There are many questions to consider and changes to be made. TMC are stepping up to this challenge and re-purposing some of our planned investment through The Cultural Life Fund to support the arts, cultural and education sectors in these challenging times. We have launched up to ten Sector Support Commissions of £1,000-£5,000. These commissions will be used to explore creative and innovative responses to the Covid-19 challenge in the present and post-crisis; considering how your work will support the recovery and sustainability of the cultural education sector is of interest to us.

These commissions are available to individual creative and cultural business leaders aged 21-30, individuals aged 30+, or small and medium sector organisations across the East Midlands. They are intended to support organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people across the East Midlands who may be at risk of being left behind and unsupported culturally, educationally and emotionally during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is anticipated that these commissions will take 6-11 months to be completed. Commissions may consider how children and young people can be supported digitally. However, it is recognised that one sign of poverty and inequality is a lack of digital resource and therefore applications are also encouraged to consider how children and young people who do not have easy access to technology can engage.

The Mighty Creatives are planning a physical celebration of the work produced as a result of these commissions. It is therefore vital that applications consider how the work undertaken now could be presented in a ‘back-to-normal’ way in early 2021, when current Government restrictions may have been lifted.

Applications are open until 9am on Friday 15th May 2020
